Leading teams in companies where the ISO 9001, ISO 14000, ISO 18001 and ISO/TS 16949 standards have been properly implemented to accreditation stage on budget and on time.
Have been part of teams running high volume steel based manufacturing companies with up to 320 employees as a senior manager and Managing Director.
I have built, together with a strong management team, stake holder value for a multinational corporation (Nedschroef B.V.) by taking a local company to a turnover of over $20 million per annum and an EBIT of between 10 – 12%.

   • Representing a chain making company and South Africa on the ISO standards technical committee for lifting equipment.
   • Key part of a team that developed a new range of lifting gear at the McKinnon Chain Forge plant.
   • Helping a number of people develop their careers and achieve outcomes that leave me feeling proud to be a part their growth.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
PLANT SAFETY AND TRAINING MANAGER    2011 to 2012
Directly after emigrating from South Africa to the United States.  This was a great opportunity for me to establish myself and has allowed me to settle and start contributing to business in the USA.
CONSULTANT         2010 to 2011
Following the sale of NEDSCHROEF Johannesburg (Pty) Ltd in 2009 I have been assisting local companies with improvement programs and mentorship of staff.  The companies include:
         • CBC Fasteners (Pty) Ltd – a bolt making company
         • The AVENG Ltd group of companies
         • ER Galvanisers (Pty) Ltd
         • Metal Heat Treatment (Pty) Ltd
This was an opportunity to keep my skills up to date and have given me freedom to develop outside of the constraints of corporate life.

NEDSCHROEF Johannesburg (Pty) Ltd    2006 – 2010
Started as the Quality Manager and got promoted to Deputy Director after 3 months as understudy to Managing Director. Succeeded the Managing Director on his retirement.
Programs were implemented under my leadership addressing the following key points. Notable deficiencies in the company included an EBIT of 4.5% per annum, poorly organized factory, no proper maintenance, and shocking machine utilization.
As the managing director, with 7 excellent direct repartees and a staff compliment of 141 people, we
         • reduced scrap (internal and external) from +9% to 5% of forged output,
         • increase OEE from 19% to 39%
         • reduced WIP and raw material stock holding from an average of 5000 tones (Metric) per month to an average 2400 tons per month
         • Increased sales from an average of 550 tons per month to over 1100 tons per month with record sales for the company in one month during 2008 of 1348 tones.
Following the world financial crisis and the devastating impact on the automotive sector NEDSCHROEF Holding disinvested in several operations including its Johannesburg operation.  I assisted in the successful sale of the plant to a local investor.
SCAW Metals Group Chain Products     1996 to 2006.
As the Technical Manager I converted the company from an ISO 9002 management System to ISO 9001 management system as well as the implementation of ISO 18001 and ISO 14001. These were accredited by the South Bureau of Standards.
I completed my career at the chain plant as Technical Manager having achieved a number of key personal and company objectives.
         • Key member of a team that successfully developed an improved range of forged lifting hooks to meet with ISO, EN and American Standards.
         • Reduced quality costs in both the chain and forge plants by 50% based on given budgets.  (Never saw overall P&L’s for the company)
         • Developed new steel grades, together with ISCOR (now Arcelor Mittal), for high strength (Grade 90 Plus) chains and lower cost steels for ISO compliant Grade 8 Chains without compromising quality.
         • Represented the company on the local Standards Committee for lifting equipment and other National Standards.  This developed into representing South Africa on the ISO technical committees for Lifting equipment.

I speak, read and write in English and Afrikaans to an advanced level and am able to speak and understand conversational German and Dutch.
